energy, exploration and sheer chops. He has come a long was
since our days together at GIT in Hollywood where he studied
music in the early ‘90’s. And Gianfranco’s choices of
musicians to accompany him on this recording effort are

This would be a fun band to see play live. But listening to
the CD in my car here in rainy Seattle will do just fine."

Gianfranco
Continenza, guitariste et compositeur Italien, né à Turin en 1968,
commença à jouer de la guitare à l’age de 8 ans, pur héritier de la
passion de son père Nino Continenza, grand guitariste de Jazz.
Par la suite il
s’installa à Pescara, commençant par étudier la guitare classique et
en y ajoutant l’étude de la guitare moderne (jazz, fusion, R&B,
blues, Rock, funky etc…) jouant avec plusieurs formations,
travaillant dans des studios d’enregistrement et participant à tant
de manifestations musicales, tout en commençant à donner des Cours
privés de guitare.
En septembre 1991, il
se transfère à Hollywood – Californie, pour étudier au G.I.T. (
Guitar Institute of Technology)., considérée comme une des
meilleures écoles du monde, se spécialisant dans divers genres
musicaux (Jazz, Fusion, Blues, Rock, Latin, R&B, Country) se
perfectionnant avec de grands Maîtres tels que; Joe Diorio, Don Mock,
Scott Henderson, Ron Eschéte, Peter Sprague, Howard Roberts, Gary
Willis, Jeff Berlin, Jamie Findlay, Jeff Richman, Tommy Tedesco,
Mike Miller, ect..
Il
obtint son diplôme avec la moyenne de 100% en septembre 1992.
Une fois de retour
en Italie, il décide de faire côtoyer l’enseignement à sa carrière
de musicien et compositeur.
En 1994, il fonda le
P.M.I. (Professional Music Insttitute) et successivement en 1998 la
C.M.A. ( Contemporary Music Academy –
www.cma-school-com)
à Pescara avec des étudiants provenant de toutes les parties d’Italie
et dans laquelle il est Professeur de Guitare Jazz, et aussi
organisateur de Stages avec des Musiciens de l’envergure de Scott
Henderson, Gary Willis, Tuck Andress, Joe Diorio, Jennifer Batten,
George Lynch, Cathy Segal-Garcia, Jamie Findlay, Jeff Richman,
Richard Smith, Barrett Tagliarino, John Stowell, Steff Burns ect…
Il a
joué avec des Artistes de renommée mondiale tels que: Bill Evans,
Joe Diorio, Jeff Richman, Scott Kinsey, Barrett Tagliarino, Richard
Smith, John Stowell, Cathy Segal-Garcia ect…
Il
entreprend une immense activité en tant que Concertiste, dans les
Clubs de Jazz et dans les festivals parmi lesquels le: «JazzSo
Festival’03» de Gessopalena (CH) et le: «Fiorenza Jazz ‘03» de Fermo
(AP).
En
début 2000, il s’occupe d’une rubrique de guitare jazz sur un Site
National: jazzitalia.net
En avril 2000, il
enregistra un CD live «live at Kabala Club» avec Pippo Matino,
bassiste et Ernesttico aux percussions..
En début 2007 sortira
son nouveau CD «The Past inside the Present» insérant ses
compositions de Jazz électrique avec
le légendaire Bill Eva (Miles Davis, John McLaughlin) ainsi que le
saxo ténor et soprane, Scott Kinsey ( Tribal Tech, Scott Henderson,
Gary Willis, Joe Zawinul) aux claviers, Angelo Trabucco au piano,
Maurizio Rolli , bassiste, et Dante Melena à la batterie. |
