Alessandro Scala, saxophonist, born on 31nd August 1968

He discovered music during childhood and first studied the clarinet followed by the sax.

He begun studying music as autodidact and then took classes with Fabio Petretti.

He has attended seminars of the following musicians:

Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Mintzer, Joe Diorio, Steve Grossman, Bob Bonisolo, Guido Manusardi.

He has collaborated with many groups of  various musical genres (jazz, bossa nova, funk, blues), and with musicians of international fame:

Bob Moses (concert El Visionario with original pieces composed by him), Joe Garrison, Marylin Mazur, Sandro Satta, AMR Big Band, Bruno Tommaso (a show called “Il Vento”), Reunion Big Band, Eugenio Colombo (Musica in gioco), Ti Sha Man Nah Sax Quartet, Jimmye Owiens, Piero Odorici, Marco Tamburini.

For more than six years he has been working with the famous hammond player Sam Paglia. Scala leads also a quintet band and trio/quartet jazz band.

He also cooperates with other bands and musicians such as:

He has taken part in various festivals and jazz and blues editions:

Pistoia blues, Trasimeno blues, festival jazz Castel del Monte (Andria), various music reviews:

Emilia Romagna jazz review, Montefiore Conca jazz, Parma jazz, Lugo jazz, Cortile della Rocca, Costernino jazz pietre che cantano (singing stones), and many jazz festivals in Italy and abroad with Sam Paglia and other musicians (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Croatia, Spain, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia).

He has also cooperated with the Big Band directed by Davide Di Gregorio, accompanying artists such as Antonella Ruggero (ex Matia Bazar singer) and cabaret artists of Zelig, a famous TV show.

He has also appeared as an extra with Sam Paglia in the popular TV series “100 Vetrine”.

He has also been working for many years with the DJ Eddie Piller (productor of the Mojo Club), Farrapo and many others.
